Therapeutic approach

Individual therapy at ALM Psychology is structured, collaborative, and evidence-based.

Our work draws from acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), emotion-focused therapy (EFIT), cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), trauma-informed approaches, and ADHD- and autism-informed frameworks. Therapy is tailored to how each client processes information, experiences emotion, manages attention and energy, and responds to stress and environmental demands.

Therapy focuses on identifying patterns that contribute to challenges, while developing practical approaches that align more effectively with the client’s cognitive and emotional processing style.

Interventions are adapted to each client’s readiness, context, strengths, and lived experience.

Sessions are paced and goal-oriented, with regular check-ins to ensure the work remains relevant, effective, and aligned with the client’s needs.

What to Expect

Therapy is collaborative, thoughtful, and tailored to your needs, with space to explore both insight and meaningful change.
